Visual Merchadising – Hermès

If you are passing by this window of Hermès shop in Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona you probably stop by because it caughts your interest. And then you might start asking yourself why a store like Hermès decorates their window with horses. What is the reason behind?

For those who are interested in finding out more here you go…

Thierry Hermés first established Hermès as a harness workshop dedicated to serving European noblemen. He created some of the finest wrought harnesses and bridles for the carriage trade. Back in the days people had only horses as a transportation. Hermès’s son, Charles-Émile Hermès took over the management and offered later leather bags, specially designed for riders to carry their saddles with them.

The story continues by adding more products to the portfolio over the years but the only thing that remains is that everything started with the horses.

Since the 1950, its logo is of a Duc carriage with horse.

Hermes 3And this brand strategy continues including the decoration in the stores and the window decoration.

So now you know the story behind about the horses in the window of a Hermés shop.
