Mary Kay – VIP Beauty Session

30 Jul

Few weeks ago, my Irish friend Maeve and I went to a VIP Beauty Session organized by a lovely Mary Kay Consultant, Rebeca Poza, in Barcelona.

After a stressful day at work we deserved a relaxing evening, therefore we could not wait to see what the  Mary Kay VIP Beauty Session will offer us. I have heard about the brand Mary Kay once, but I have never tried their beauty products and since I only use natural cosmetic I was a little bit skeptical about whether it would be something for me or not.

Enter VIPs

Finally arrived, we were welcomed by Rebeca Poza, who is an Independent Beauty Consultant, one of 3 million Independent Beauty Consultant at Mary Kay. She explained us a little bit about the company and the concept. The founder, Mary Kay Ash, turned her passion for beauty into reality and started her business in a tiny store in Dallas, Texas, with five cosmetic products and one big dream. That dream was to inspire women to transform their lives, and in doing so, help other women achieve success. Today, the brand Mary Kay offers more than 200 premium products in is presented in more than 35 countries worldwide. It offers cosmetic products like innovative skin care, makeup and fragrances.

I have to admit that I really liked the inspiring story of Mary Kay and the best was that through creating a worldwide network of Independent Beauty Consultants she helped many women from Dallas to Kazakhstan, to discover extra income. Besides the story, I liked the fact that she was from Texas. I was studying abroad in Texas and I left a piece of my heart in Texas. So, with all the facts the VIP Beauty Party could finally start.

We took our places and first Rebeca wanted to know a little bit about our expectations of today’s beauty session. She gave us a paper where we should fill out information about the type of our skin and what kind of beauty routines we are using daily.

Then, we started with a cleaning treatment. First step was to clean our hands, then our faces and lips. Therefore, we used the products of Mary Kay Collection Timewise: make-up remover, 3 in 1 cleanser, age-fighting moisturizer. Thanks to the peeling effect my skin felt really soft after the cleaning. After that, Rebeca introduced us the Mary Kay Microdermabrasion Set that consisted of two products and two steps: The first product refines the pores, the second product makes the skin soft. I think that those products made the miracle. I could see immediately the positive results. My skin felt nice and refreshed. We finished the cleaning treatment by applying a face day cream with sunscreen protection and a hand cream with a lovely  flavor of peaches.

At the end of the beauty treatment,  we applied liquid make-up conditioner and brown mascara. I have to say, that I have never used brown mascara, but the effect of the brown color looks amazing. Depending on which type of skin you have and the color of your eyes, the brown mascara makes your lashes look more natural. So I decided to go ahead with the brown color in the future.

At the end of the VIP beauty session, we were totally satisfied and relaxed and we could see the amazing beauty effects. If you would like to have such a VIP Mary Kay beauty session in Barcelona just email me directly or Rebeca Pozo Rebecca.mk@live.com.

La Kukita at the 080 Barcelona Fashion Show – Josep Abril and Celia Vela

11 Jul

Last week, from the 30th of June until the 4th of July 2014, the city of Barcelona had Fashion Fever yet again.

The 14th bi-annual 080 Barcelona Fashion Show took place in the famous Sant Pau building of Barcelona, where 21 designers and 14 brands were present and showed their Spring – Summer 2015 collection.

For this special occasion I wanted to wear something that only I possessed. So I decided three weeks before the Fashion Event to design my own dress. My grandpa who is a professional tailor helped me to fulfill my dream of a long classy red dress.

I hope you like the result as much as I do!

Irina

A few days before the 080 Barcelona Fashion Show my dress was ready and so was I!

At this year’s 080 Barcelona Fashion Week Spring – Summer 2015, I had the opportunity to see the latest collection of two famous Spanish designers Josep Abril and Celia Vela.

Josep Abril

The Catalan Designer Josep Abril is one of the Spain’s leading men’s fashion designers. His unconventional suits are a mainstay on Spanish catwalks in Barcelona and Madrid. Apart from his collection for men, he also creates costumes for shows, theater and opera. In his latest collection he mainly used the colors black, grey, blue and green.

FD Moda Fashion Event 2014

3 Jun

Last Saturday, the 24th of May, the FD Moda Fashion Event organized by the international School of Fashion, FD Moda Barcelona, took place in Sala Barts.

This year’s Fashion Event was dedicated to the international photographer Daniel Riera, who received an FD Moda Award for his work and achievements in the Fashion Industry.

The guests had a chance to meet Daniel Riera personally and have a look at the projects that he completed for magazines like Vogue, GQ Germany, Harper’s Bazaar, V Magazine as well as fashion companies Lacoste, Triumph, bimba & lola and Canali. He showed his best shoots and explained to the audience how he implemented his ideas to make the shoot as good as possible.

Some facts about Daniel Riera:

–          He enjoys taking pictures of people with no modeling experience

–          He prefers colorful clothes rather than just black and white

–          He loves to do fashion shoots in the middle of the street, not in a studio because there is more life and action on the streets

–          He is fascinated by taking pictures of objects, like a simple wine bottle with a glass and putting it into a nice shape

Pop-up stores at the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week

26 Feb

At the 080 Barcelona Fashion Show I had the opportunity to not only enjoy the designer Celia Vela’s show as you could see in the previous post, but also could explore and meet local designers at their pop-up stores.

Here are some of my favourites that I discovered:

Formentera Lady & Co

375459_382795568472633_876015724_n

The designer Claudia D’ Anca was inspired to create jewellry on the island Formentera. She lived there for many years and the magic island helped her to transform her emotions into forms and colours. That is why she created her first jewellry collection inspired by the beautiful small island Formentera.

And since then, all Formentera Lady & Co jewellry collections have been inspired by the natural beauty of the island and its flowers and colours. Her designs are also influenced by her love for Art-Deco, Orientalism and African Art.

Every single piece is made with great care and attention, which makes them special and unique.

To find out more about her, have a look at the website: http://www.formenteraladyandco.com/ or her Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/formenteraladybisuteria

Tass Joies

The designers of Tass Joies find inspiration from many different places for their collection, and the breathtaking results can be seen in their jewellry creations that are shaped like islands, trees, dreams etc.   The unique jewellry is made of high-quality materials like silver, gold and is designed and made in Barcelona.

Alexia Grustan

Alexia Grustan brings old and used textiles back to life.

Alexia Grustan wanted to do something to symbolise a protest against the throwaway society we live in and give used clothes a second chance. With her ambition and her creativity she started to recycle used textiles and to create something new out of them.

All her exclusive items including bags, necklaces, bracelets, belts and accessories for shoes are recycled and handmade.

I felt in love with her designs and I totally support the idea of recycling. I myself recycled one necklace. You can find the post:  La Kukita’s style – Handmade Recycled Jewelry

To find out more about her, have a look at the website: http://www.alexiagrustan.com/

La Juana

miss-jekyll

Nowadays if you want to find high-quality shoes that are still 100 per cent handmade, you have to search hard.  So it’s good that the Spanish brand La Juana offers handmade quality shoes. The story behind the brand is amazing as well as the designs themselves.

In 2010, when the crisis hit the country, many people lost their jobs and so did Juanvi, Alex and Natalia. To fight back against the crisis, the three friends had the brilliant idea to make high-quality shoes. They went to study and practice traditional shoemaking processes and their origins. Finally, the brand La Juana was born.

Since then, the shoes have been produced entirely in Spain, using high-quality materials. The designs are a mix of Mediterranean and Modern style and come in any given colour.

If you stop by their little workshop in Salzadella, Castellón and pick the color and the type of shoe you would like to have, they will make a personalised and exclusive shoe just for you.
